TCL CORPORATION

TCL was established in 1981 in China as a small company specializing in telephones and audio/video products, hence the name TCL "Telephone Company limited".

In the past 23 years, TCL has developed at a rapid and robust pace, leading to an average growth rate of 42.65% for the last twelve years.

The acceleration in growth has led TCL to buy out, make joint ventures on the following areas of its major business concerns:

a. On the multimedia side, TCL's purchase of Schneider of Germany and the TV/DVD business of Thomson/RCA reflect TCL's desire to enter the electronic market strongly, while keeping the leading edge of technology as its base for all future products. The two mergers already has made TCL "The worlds' biggest TV manufacturer"

b. On the telecommunication front, TCL has bought 100% shares of Alcatel's mobile network and will utilize Alcatel's patents and designs to capture a bigger world market.

c. On the technology side, TCL has joined hands with Intel, the world famous chip manufacturer and has built a lab in China to integrate the 3C Intel technology in TCL computers, consumer electronics and communications products. This co-operation between the two giants will be a milestone in the development of "next-generation" technology for all TCL products.

d. On the consumer household products, TCL has a joint venture with Toshiba of Japan to manufacture "White goods" products in China.
